If you enjoy reading and talking about books, the Book Club is for you. Students will titles are read.
This club is for Freshman only.
Buddy Club
Run by: Mrs. Shaffer
Students must fill out an application and meet with Mrs. Shaffer for an interview prior to signing up for the club. Peer buddies should plan to be involved with special education students at least one time per month outside of school and also participate in planned group activites on a monthly basis.
Membership is limited to 18 members.
Chess Club
Run by: Mrs. Ruby
This club is for anyone interested and able to play chess.
Dues: $3.00
A permission slip is required from Mrs. Ruby before you register.

Drama Club
Run by: Mr. Vogtman
Dedicated to drama and theatrical events, membership of the Drama Club is earned by working on or participating in drama productions. Benefits of membership include field trips to the theatre, direct involvement in productions, and participation in local special events. Fundraisers are also sponsored by the troupe, with the funds used to support the Drama department and its events.

Future Educator Association Club (FEA)
Run by: Mrs. Campagnoli/Mrs. Yusko
Brunswick High School's FEA is one of approximately 1,000 precollegiate chapters across the United States, England, Germany, and Italy created to provide students with oppurtunites to explore careers in education. Although associated with the school's Teaching Academy, student members do not need to be enrolled in the academy to become members of FEA. Not only does FEA strive to interest students in the field of education, but also to enhance the quality of the school's educational program by fostering an appreciation for teaching and contributing to the smooth operation of the school.
Future Farmers of America (FFA)
Run by: Mr. Harrington
The FFA organization is one of the largest youth organizations in the country. Members of the FFA have the chance to go to many conferences and participate in contests at regional, state, and national levels. There are various contests to fit all interests, from animals of all types to natural resources, and from speaking to land judging. Members also get a chance to participate in the annual Community Show held in October. FFA members work hard to make the show a success. At the Community Show, a chapter ambassador is chosen to represent the chapter for the year. Some students get the chance to travel and meet many people of various backgrounds. There are many more oppurtunities within FFA that you can participate in if you join. In order to register, students must be enrolled in one of Mr. Harrington's classes.
Dues: $10.00

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA)
Run by: Ms. Brown
This club is for anyone who is concerned with the issues of discrimination and prejudice based on sexual preference. This group welcomes straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender members. If you are hesitant to join because you think people will make fun of you, well, you are probably right. But don't be discouraged! That is why we need you most of all. People are put down, harassed, and abused everyday because of their sexual preferences and sexual identity. This type of discrimination causes only fear and distress. It doesn't have to be like this. With your help we can work on creating a school environment where everyone feels welcome and no is scared. Joining this club does not make you gay, lesbian, or bisexual. It makes you an activist for equal rights. It makes you an advocate for tolerance and understanding. It makes you a person who is willing to stand up for something you believe in.

Global Dominators
Run by: Mr. Shullenbarger
If you feel the need to dominate the world with the roll of dice, strategic planning, or cunning diplomacy, then join the Global Dominators. Conduct your massive armies in board games such as Risk, Diplomacy, Stratego, and many others as you can compete for the title of the Ultimate Conqueror.

Membership is limited to 30 members.
Need at least 10 students to sign up.
Investment Club
Run by: Mrs. Bonesteel
Discuss and plan stock investments. An advisor from a Frederick stock brokerage firm will serve as an advisor and resource. Members will participate in a Stock Market game in the fall using virtual money. The possibility of investing actual funds will be decided during the spring semester.
Spring 2007 and Fall 2007 Information Technology students are given preference.

Math Club
Run by: Mr Grover
This club is open to all students who are interested in mathematics and problem solving. Teams will compete tournament-style solving problems covering all ranges of high school mathematics. Students interested should enjoy mathematics and be able to work cooperatively.

Minority Essence
Run by: Mrs. Morris
This club is open to everyone. Its main focus is to inform students of the contributions of African Americans. Also emphasis is placed on self-esteem and tolerance. Various activities are scheduled throughout the year in which participation is a requirement.

Needlework Club
Run by: Mrs. Zumbach
Want to crochet? Knit? Cross-stitch? Here's the club! These skills are great for relieving stress, passing the time, and having something to show for your efforts. Learn the basics and then choose a simple project - a scarf or afghan. Afghans could be donated to area organizations such as the Linus Project (for cancer patients) or Birthright. Anyone can join!

Photography Club
Run by: Mrs. Blikenstaff
Students interested in joining Photography Club must have taken Photo I or be currently enrolled in Photo I. The club will be a working club in that members are expected to shoot a roll of film on their own time before each meeting. Film will be brought to each meeting for developing and printing. Also, during each club time we will learn new printing processes as well as manipulation techniques. We will look at master photographers work for ideas and inspiration.
Dues: $5.00

Random Acts of Kindness (Partners with Jefferson Ruritan)

The Random Acts of Kindess Club works in partnership with the Jefferson Ruritan to support various community programs. Major activities for the year include a Halloween party, Easter party, and the Jefferson Carnival. The goal of the club is to spread the spirit of kindness through its actions.

Spanish Club
Run by: Senor Eskuchen
The Spanish club offers the students a variety of activities in order to enhance the appreciation of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. Examples of past activities include dinners prepared by the students and shared among them, films, games, spelling bees, and dancing.
Dues: $5.00
Membership is open to all current Spanish students.

Student Government Association (SGA)
Run by:
Mr. Mehl
The Student Government Association exists to provide communication between the student body and the school system. Students will be responsible for taking an active role around the school and community by participating in events such as homecoming and fundraisers. Students cannot become a member of this club unless they are elected as a representative. Ballots to be included in the SGA elections are available from Mr. Mehl or at the club registration table.
All members must be elected into this club.
Habits of Highly Effective Students
Run by: Mr. Lynott/Mrs. Carroll
Learn and develop successful life strategies by setting personal goals. Club members will bring their own life experiences to help focus on developing ones personal vision for a positive future.
Volleyball Club
Run by: Mr. Spiezio
The Volleyball Club is for students who enjoy the game of volleyball and are interested in some competition. In this club, you will also learn standard volleyball moves and procedures.
Club is limited to 50 students.
Yearbook Club
Run by: Mrs. Tucker
The yearbook club is organized for students currently enrolled in Publications II or III. These students must have earned at least a “B” average in their Publications I class. The club will focus on gathering photos for club pages, spring sports, and other spring activities.

Young Conservatives Club
Run by: Mrs. Roesch
The Young Conservatives Club is aimed towards students who are interested in discussing politics with other young, politically active students. Plans for the club include: voting on and supporting a Presidential candidate for the 2008 election, discussing important issues cocerning politics, and possibly having a guest speaker. This club is open to all students who have an interest in politics, no matter how strong of an interest they have. Being the only political club in the school, students of both Republican and Democratic views are welcome to join, as long as they share conservative principles.
